When you travel you will need stuff like extra socks or towels for sure. Trust me you will not find enough time to wash your socks and towels whenever they get dirty. So to avoid going outside and buying pairs of socks and towels, it is highly recommended that you pack extra items with you.

BUY FOOD FROM GROCERY STORES

It is really good to go to local grocery store that locals use. The prices are low and quality is the same found in big supermarkets. There are a lot of rumours about milk and eggs. But they end up to be just rumours, it is good to use those local goods as long as packaging in clean and expiration date is good. This trick will help you save a lot of money

You can travel in 2nd class and still be comfortable. You just need to know when not to travel and things you should carry with you in long distance travels? Such as food, drinks and locks for your luggage.

Do not eat in restaurants all the time. Cook yourself and see how much you are going to save and you can even expand your holiday thanks to the savings you were able to saved. Why not shop from the traditional market. Vegetables are cheap in those markets and fresh as well.

BE OPEN TO STRANGERS

Why not make one or two locals. Especially if they speak your language. I recommend that you aim for university students, they are always nice and kind. These local friends will help you a lot with a number of things. They can give good recommendations and will keep you away from scammers.

DO NOT FLY DIRECTLY

www.pexels.com

One of the common mistakes travellers make is that they always prefer to fly directly. Sometimes the difference in price is really huge and can give you an extra week in the city you are going to visit. One thing you should aim for, is why not to stop at a country for 24 hours or so? That is going to give you a free opportunity to explore that new country, see new places and why not make new friends.

USE LOCAL MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION

Why taking a taxi alone while you can share it with 4 people and pay only 25% of the actual price? Always do it as the locals do it when you are using transportation. Just make sure that your luggage is safe and will not get damaged.

USE NO FEE BANK CARDS

If you calculate your fees that you paid while you were away. You are going to find that you have spend A LOT. So why not go for a fee free bank account and use that free fee debit card and pay for as much as you want while you are away. It is really good because it encourages you to carry less cash which is highly recommended while you are travelling.

USE A MAP

www.pexels.com

Use a map so you will not get lost. Because getting lost in a big city means you will have to take a taxi and pay them a lot of money. So never be ashamed of holding a map or using an app on your phone that gives you good direction tips as you discover the city you are in.

ONLY TAKE MONEY YOU NEED WHEN GOING OUT

www.pexels.com

One thing I find really helpful which decreased my spending habits a lot. I only carry with me money that I need on that day. Let’s say you are going on a tour then you will buy a pair of traditional shoes from the market. Only carry that amount of money so you will not end up buying stuff you don’t need and will never use!

GET VACCINATED

www.pexels.com

Please do this. Before you go to any country, even if it’s from the first world. Go checka  doctor and ask them what vaccinations you need for that country. Because if you get sick let’s say in Emirates, it is going to cost you thousands of dollars to get a treatment. So always pay attention to this important topic that a lot of travellers face when travelling abroad.

GO FOR FREE WALKING TOURS

You will find a lot of tours in buses or cars that will cost you a lot of money but instead there are a number of walking tours that you can try and save a lot. Just make sure you do not get lost, carry a map.

Conclusion

It is really good to save money while you are travelling and one big tip always keep money back home. Because coming back from vacation with a below zero bank account feels so bad, trust me. Make sure you enjoy your holiday and always remember it does not matter what you eat and dress while you travel. What you see and experience is what matters the most.
