HOW TO NOT GET SICK WHEN YOU TRAVEL

The worst thing that can happen to you is to get sick while you are travelling. In the middle of the fun you are having this bad thing can interrupt your fun and joy and trust me, no one likes to get that feeling.

There are a number of ways you can try to prevent this to happen, but  always the best move you can take is to get lectured about areas you are going to and understand the nature of the nation and threads that might be a warning sign. Sometimes only a mosquito bite can take you to the hospital for days.

The number one step that you should take in my opinion is to consult a travel health specialist and take their advice seriously.

Now I am going top list for you the things you should do in order to stay healthy even in poor third world countries.

1 GET VACCINATED

The first thing you would want to do before you pack your stuff and head somewhere. You should get vaccinated. Sometimes this is included in the visa process. However you should ask if there are any additional vaccinations you should take. Vaccinations can save your life nad keep threads away from you.

2 PROTECT YOUR BED FROM MOSQUITOS

Some countries in Asia and Africa have some dangerous diseases that are transmitted only through mosquito bites. So make sure you pack with you a net that covers your best and keeps mosquitos and other insects away from you. That’s gonna help you stay calm at night to have restful sleep.

3 DRINK BOTTLED WATER

It is really recommended to stay away from tap water in some third world countries. The only option you have is bottled water. It is not expensive, also safe and healthy. A lot of people every year get sick and rushed to hospital due to polluted tap water. So always keep bottles of water with you wherever you go.

4 EAT ONLY IN TOURISTS PLACES

Why you should eat only in tourists places?! That’s the only place where you can trust food is clean and healthy to eat. You should stay away from low key restaurants especially in poor areas.

5 EAT IN BRANDED RESTAURANTS

If you are travelling in another country and you see a MCdonalds, don’t be ashamed to walk in. That is rather a clean and healthy place one can trust. This way you hit two birds with one rock. You save money and at the same time you are guaranteed to eat something that will not poison you.

6 WASH YOUR HANDS REGULARLY

Always carry with you a hand Sterile Cleanser. That way you guarantee that you have your hands clean all the time. If you could not carry one then you should be washing your hands every now and then. In fact this is a habit that you should adopt wherever you are. There are people who got diseases only by touching the stairs handle and then scratched they eyes. This is something you should keep in your mind and always keep your hands away from your eyes and your mouth when you are in public places.

7 KEEP ANTIMALARIALS WITH YOU

www.pexels.com

All health specialists advice travellers to keer antimalarials with the wherever they go. If the place you are heading to has a high risk of malaria then you should be taking your pills regularly based on doctors advice. Let’s say you are going to hike in an African country and you will stop by some small villages, then you should be taking those pills with you. Because that’s where the risk is high, in small villages.

8 SEE A TRAVEL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL

It is really good to do that! A health travel professional will tell you exactly what you need to do in order not to get sick while you are on the way to your next destination. They will also give you dedicated advice for each place you are planning to stop by.

9 KEEP FIRST AID KIT IN YOUR BACKPACK

Sometimes a cut that is treated with first aid early is more likely not to get you in troubles. As you might already know diseases are transmitted easily through blood vessels. So if the germs got in touch with your blood they can get you an affection really easy. To prevent that you should keep first aid and always heal cuts as soon as you get them.

10 ASK BEFORE YOU SWIM SOMEWHERE

www.pexels.com

Do not swim anywhere. Always you should ask about that river or lake if it’s close to village or factory. Sometimes there are some lakes you cannot rsist but jump into. But there can be really serious threads that might affect your skin and end you up with skin problems; like etching.

11 PACK YOUR OWN BED COVER AND BLANKET

Nobody will guarantee you that all bed covers and blankets in hotels you visit are clean to use. Make sure that you always pack a pair of thin bed covers and thin blankets that you can use. Also pick a pillow cover so you can use when you are not sure about how clean a hotel room is. Another trick you can use for pillow covers, is that you can insert the pillow in a t-shirt. These will not take much space especially if you know how to fold them the right way.

CONCLUSION:

My advice is not professional. I am only speaking out of experience from previous travels I did. So I recommend that you see a travel health professional who will give you what you need to stay healthy in future travels.

It is always good to be cautious about this matter as your health is all you have.
