Every year there are millions of people who decide on india to be as their next destination, yet the majority of them have little knowledge about this foreign place. I personally consider india to be one of a kind! I challenge anyone to come up with a country that is close or similar to india. The culture is huge, the habits of the locals differ from one area to the other. The faith and beliefs of locals is incredibly diverse throughout the country. It is a place where people and animals live in harmony, a scene that is rare all around the globe.

Yet, everything has a downside! In india alone there are thousands of tourists who get sick as a result of food poisoning. This comes as a result of the dramatic lack of healthy conditions in all aspects of nutrition in poor areas.

Scam! There are a number of scammers whom a lot of tourists have bad memories with. It’s either people trying to sell you fake goods. Or antiques they claim are genuine and rare.

Overpricing is one of the things a lot of tourists notice when dealing with locals, especially in transportation.

Actually there are a number of things you should keep in mind and be aware of when traveling to india. So we are going to list a number of things to avoid doing when travelling to India.

DO NOT EAT MEAT

You just need not to eat meat at all, only if! You are at a tourists restaurant. Meat in other areas of the country is not controlled by health officials nor veterinarians! This is why it is recommended that you stay away from meat sold in markets or even restaurants in poor areas!

Do not be fooled and think all Indians have one same faith and follow one mindset. India is very divers when it comes to religion. There a lot of conflicts based on religious beliefs that lead to serious issues between ethnic groups in India.

Do not ask for cow beef when you are in a place away from a restaurant or your hotel. As you know cows are a very holy thing and considered as gods to some Hindu faith. So just ask for beef when you see people eating it.

Only drink water you purchase from supermarkets. Never drink tap water. India has the most polluted tap water in the world, even locals get diseases from drinking it, some of them are deadly or can result in serious issues.

It is recommended that you ask trustworthy locals about real prices or just look them up online before you go out and pay for anything. Transportation is where most of travellers gets scammed. So make sure you bargain when it comes to prices and refuse when they ask for too much.

Scammers are everywhere in india and you will notice them for sure but sometimes it is hard to tell if someone you are dealing with is a scammer or not.It is somewhere you should not miss at all.

In some areas you need to dress properly or you might get attached or harassed by locals. It is really good to have clothes that cover most of your body and make sure that you do not show too much skin. It is really good because you hit two birds with one rock, first you keep perverts and bad guys away second you protect your skin from stuff that can infect you. A mosquito bite can take you to the hospital for nights !!

KEEP YOUR LUGGAGE SAFE

Always keep your luggage safe and at your sight! Always carry a small lock with you that you close your suitcase with. Make sure that you pay extra attention to your luggage when you take tuk tuks are if you are in taxis always keep in mind someone might open the car and steal your stuff in the twinkling of an eye!

WASH YOUR HANDS REGULARLY

Wash your hands all the time. Not only when you want to eat. Because you might scratch your eyes or put your hands in your mouth. In India it is easy to have a disease transmitted to you only by handshakes or touching a poll in a public place.

EAT IN TOURISTS PLACES

If you want to eat outside, only do it in tourists places or in fancy neighbourhoods. Eating in poor areas is not recommended at all and might get you end up in a hospital for days.

DO NOT HURT ANIMALS

Animal in india are considered as gods in some areas and within some religions. If you are driving your car or motorcycle and there is a cow on the road. Just do nothing and wait until it leaves alone. If a monkey stole something from you, just do nothing and let them leave. In a small town they even worship mise. So make sure you keep those animals away from you and safe.
